  • VH400HD used in the research of the impacts of predators on prey populations

    hco_customer_testimonials_100

I am a wildlife ecologist and much of my research deals with understanding predator impacts on prey behavior. For several years I have used trail cameras to provide data for evaluating these impacts. Although other cameras have provided useful images, the features of the HCO VH400 have greatly improved the quality of data I am able to collect. For my applications, battery life is excellent and the ability to adjust flash intensity makes it possible for me to detect small mammals within our foraging patches. In the past, inability to adjust flash intensity often made identification impossible. I have been well pleased with these cameras and with service and support of HCO.

    Mike Conner, PhD, Wildlife Ecologist

(Dr. Conner’s interests include predator ecology, the impacts of predators on prey populations, and the role of habitat and habitat management on predation processes. Dr. Conner’s outreach activities extend from his research interests and include seminars, workshops, and short courses on managing predation and the predation process.)

  • FL land owner uses wireless camera to keep the property free of trespassers

    hco_customer_testimonials_100

What sold us on HCO Outdoors Digital Cameras was the fact of how easy they are to use and the pictures are exceptional. Our main focus on buying the cameras was for their surveillance capabilities. We have a private 350 acre limestone quarry that in its day had 20 trucks on the property at any given time. The neighbors knew the property was well watched so trespassing was never an issue. The quarry is now sitting idle and the trucks are merely the past. What hasn’t changed is the abundance of fish and wildlife. Though heavily posted, trespassing was at its all-time high. By fabricating our own 16’ posts to mount the cameras and the solar panels to power them, we can be on the property at a moment’s notice. Though we cannot be everywhere, the cameras have our back and notify us immediately if unwanted intruders make their way into the property. We see, we dispatch, we notify authorities and have them removed. All of this happens at a fraction of the cost of live surveillance.

  • SG565FV is used in Wild Cats of Tamaulipas Binational Conservation Project

    hco_customer_testimonials_100

After trying several brands and models of camera traps to monitor wildlife, we concluded that the HCO cameras are the best tool available for the job, particularly when it comes to the monitoring of wild cats (jaguars, pumas, ocelots, jaguarundis and bobcats). Because of the high quality of the captured images of these crepuscular and nocturnal species, we are able to better identify each specimen. Not only are the HCO cameras a high quality piece of media equipment, they have also proven to be very tough, durable, and reliable, even under the harshest of field conditions.

We highly recommend HCO for wildlife monitoring.

  • HCO releases the new Spartan series scouting cameras

HCO Outdoor Products is proud to announce the release of its new HCO Spartan SR1 “Big Game” camera. This camera is a “clean sheet” design, which is focused on durability, usability, and above all outstanding performance.

Starting with a list of design requirements, compiled by a team with years of trail camera and hunting experience, the SR1 demonstrates a well though out design. No detail is too small when it comes to durability. In an effort to obtain the highest level of water resistance, a flush case mating area is used on both the front and rear case halves. On the front case half, an oversized rubber gasket is used to ensure a complete seal. To close the unit, is an oversized, double hinged latch. This latch provides abundant pressure to seal the case halves yet is still easy to operate, even with gloved hands. The rear case houses a full compliment of 12 AA batteries, which provides a long battery life. These batteries are arranged in an upper and lower bay so that the batteries are not stacked end to end. This arrangement provides for each battery to have its own slot, thereby securing the batteries firmly and eliminating the common problem of batteries becoming unseated.

Beyond the structural attributes of the SR1, lies an ergonomic, user-friendly interior design. Starting with the easy to read 2” True color display, which displays a logical and well-organized menu. Below the screen resides an 8 button key set, with dedicated keys for image or video playback, menu key, directional navigation keys and an enter key. Along the bottom, are ports for USB and 6V DC power and the on/off switch, all of which have large, easily visible labels. Finally, a SD memory card slot is found on the left side. This slot has a cutout, which allows an easy grip on the inserted SD card. Cards up to 32 GB can be inserted for abundant storage.

If the ultimate judgment of a trail camera is its performance, the SR1 stands ready to impress. Still image resolution is a highly respectable 8MP, however video resolution is a massive 720P HD. Crisp, clear night images and video are illuminated by a full blackout flash invisible IR LED array. This array provides abundant IR illumination out to 60ft or more. The final link in the chain of performance is, a less than one second trigger time. This allows all of these features to capture the intended target every time.

If a trail camera needs to be durable, dependable, easy to use and take great pictures, look no further than the SR1. SR1 series includes different models feature regular IR flash, invisible blackout flash, 2G/3G cellular wireless, etc.

HCO Outdoor Products carries a full line of wireless and conventional trail cameras for every need. Since its founding in 2008 HCO outdoor Products has continually focused on bringing high quality and innovative products, with the best possible value, to market.
